Direct Line are a major UK car insurance company with over five million customers and a broad range of products and services. They are members of the Which? Webtrader code of practice.
Direct Line was founded in April 1985 and focused on selling car insurance over the telephone. Since its establishment the company has grown substantially with international operations in Germany, Italy and Spain. Currently Direct Line offers a wide variety of insurance product and services over the phone and internet. A user friendly web site includes the following functions:
- Save a quote and come back later to buy on the internet, without typing the details in again
- Save a quote, and then telephone the call centre who can call up the Internet quote, answer any special questions, and allow you to buy on the phone

The Direct Line mortgage range allows you to make over-payments and save on interest, or take payment holidays.
